Community, the world, and some fashion too: November at Delmar

November was a busy month at Delmar, but filled with lots of really great things. Looking back I think we can all agree that we really gave back this month. And that makes me so happy because the world needs some give back right now. Our industry sometimes gets viewed as vain, but really we all got into this because we love making someone feel good. It’s nice to use that desire, and our craft, to help someone who needs it. A tiny bit of care from another person can be life changing!

So, scroll on through and see all the great things we got up to this month!

She Said: Connecting for a Cause

On the 4th some of our Nail Tech and Esthetics students along with instructors, Leslie Ann and Rahel, joined forces to support the community and Servants Anonymous Society (SAS). They offered beauty consultations, makeup touch ups, and polish changes to an amazing group of women. The focus of the evening was networking and all proceeds from the event went to help SAS in their efforts to change the lives of women who have been sexually exploited and/or trafficked.

A huge thank you to Lindsay Hill, co-founder of She Said and partner of, for including us!

Shave Your Lid For a Kid

On the 6th we were honoured to work with Kids Cancer Care in supporting the AMAZING students of Future Charter Academy High School reach their goal for an incredible cause! Well done to all involved!

March Hair Stylist Class Graduation

November 6 also saw Kim, Danny, Artan, Kristie, Hiwa, Ahmad, Lindsey, Christina and Nicole graduate from our 1400 hour Hair Stylist program. We wish you all success! Special congratulations to Kim, Artan, Danny, Nicole and Ahmad on achieving Perfect Attendance Awards.

Nafasi-Opportunity Society

On November 7 we got a huge shout out from Nafasi-Opportunity Society, thanking us for donating a hair styling kit to a student in Tanzania. But we really wanted to thank them for giving us the opportunity to support education and the hair styling trade around the world!

The Royals Exclusive Fashion and Performance Showcase

November 8 saw us backstage doing hair and makeup for Royals Management, a Calgary based modeling and talent agency.

Founder, and Delmar alumni, Zxyro Jdrk has a vision for the fashion and art scene in Calgary: take some amazing talent and let them bloom. And that is exactly what we witnessed at the Westin ballroom that evening.

The Showcase featured loads of local talent, including fashion and styling by: EJR by Estella Lokiru Nimmare, Cherry Chic Designs, Hannah Duke, Lexington Ave Culture Spot, and makeup brand Mister by Molly Alanna.

We were also treated to awesome performances by Erika Vidallo, Fingaz and Pleuto, and moves by SNAP BOYS.

A huge shout out to our students who participated in the event. You did an amazing job on the hair and makeup!

Remembrance Day

On November 11 we chose to close our doors and take a day of reflection to honour our service people and the sacrifices they have made for us.

Blue Week in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness

Following with the Movember movement, we chose to wear blue during the week of November 16 to 21 in a goal to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
