True Artistry: Nails and Casey Reece

I am going to make everything around me beautiful – that will be my life – Elsie De Wolfe

I remember the first time I saw the work of Casey Reece in person. One of our Esthetics students came up to me one morning and said, “Audrey, LOOK AT MY NAILS!!!”

Now, I hadn’t had a coffee yet, and it was a Friday morning, so I was like, “yeah okay show me these nails”…

She proceeded to fan her hands in front of my face, and after my eyes focused (remember, no caffeine yet), I was jolted awake by the most beautiful set of nails I have seen in ages. Immediately I wanted to know who had done this amazing work.

Turns out I had seen Casey many evenings when she came in early to prepare for her evening Nail Technician classes. I just never knew that she was actually Casey, Nail Goddess. I just knew her as this really nice, quiet young woman who came a bit early and sat at the middle table.

So I started watching her work. Sharing it on our social media. Chatting with her a bit here and there. I started to see all the clients, including our staff members, that were now coming to see her. I started chatting with her more and more, and then it came to me

I need to write about this amazing artist and share her work with the world

So in true fashion, I asked her some interview questions, and here is what she had to say…

What inspires you?
There is so much that inspires me!! I am inspired by fashion trends, colors, seasons of the year, other nail technicians and different nail products.

What made you decide to become a nail technician?
I decided to become a nail tech because I was looking to change my career path and have always been interested in the beauty industry. I enjoy making people feel beautiful!!

Why did you choose Delmar for your education?
I chose Delmar College for my education because I was very impressed with the curriculum that they teach. It is very in depth and that is what I was looking for! Delmar College also has a very professional atmosphere.

What has been your most positive experience so far, as a student at Delmar?
My most positive experience has been having such a wonderful teacher!! Leslie Ann is extremely talented and having her as my teacher has been great!

What are your future plans?
My future plans are to continue to build my clientele as well as continuing to take as many advanced nail courses as possible. I would also like to become an educator in the next few years.

What do you feel will be the next big trend in the nail industry?
The nail industry has grown by leaps and bounds, usually following the fashion trends so it`s hard to say what will be next!
