What is Esthetics?

Esthetician can mean many different things. Especially in this day and age, the word seems to change definitions on a regular basis, with the advent of new procedures and products.

This also means that every school is going to offer a slightly different program. Of course each has the desire to be cutting edge, and has their own reasoning behind how and why they offer what they do.

So what can we offer the potential future esthetician?

Our Esthetician program is a fast-paced and comprehensive program that gets you ready for a career in the beauty industry. You will not spend days just sitting in the classroom because, we get it, you want to get to doing services, so we break your days up. Our goal is that you get as many hands on client experiences as possible.

The services you will be trained in include: skin analysis, facial treatments, manicures, pedicures, gel polish, waxing, tinting, basic makeup, body treatments, microdermabrasion, microcurrent, LED light therapy, and dental grade teeth whitening.

Like most people, we think germs are bad and aim not to spread them around to others. That is why each of our students must attend, and pass, our Infection Prevention Control certification class. From day one of your program you are taught how to maintain a sanitary working area. We believe in it so strongly that we also train you to use an autoclave for all of your metal implements, and we use one onsite in our student spa.

We believe in hospital-grade disinfection and sterilization in the student spa (and always).

Our aim is to offer you the best that we can. So we stock the student spa with tons of great skin and body products from professional lines, such as: SkinCeuticals, YUM Gourmet Skincare, Skeyndor, Natural Concepts, MAXeffects Naturals, and Katrine Marso. This means that you get all of your hands on experience with products that perform.

Our Esthetics program is delivered over 864 hours, and can be taken over four, full-time days per week for 27 weeks; or, can be taken in an evening and Saturday format for 36 weeks. Our evening and weekend program is one of the few Esthetics diploma programs in Alberta that is delivered this way. What does that mean for you? You don’t need to quit your day job while you go to school. Both delivery formats are eligible for student loan funding.

Oh, and you get some awesome scrubs to wear to school too. Along with a kit full of all the implements and things you will need to be successful.
